The
South Coast Regional Multimedia Education Center was established
in 1997 at Santa Barbara City College, Santa Barbara, California.
The
Center is working to provide regional planning and coordination
for New Media and Multimedia programs focusing on community
colleges in San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Ventura, and
Los Angeles counties. These colleges include: Allan Hancock
College, Antelope Valley College, College of the Canyons,
Cuesta College, Moorpark College, Oxnard College, Ventura
College and Santa Barbara City College.
The
collaborative develops and maintains professional relationships
with college faculty and occupational program representatives
at regional community colleges as well as with major local
corporations which have established linkages with a variety
of multimedia industries and nonprofit organizations.
The
South Coast Regional Multimedia Education Center provides
a forum for assessing educational needs, training workshops,
facilitating program planning and assists students in accessing
related programs and skills training in fields such as multimedia
design, web graphics design, computer animation, digital
video and digital sound.
